Red Bull Music Academy

In the early days of Smooth Technology, we created spinning DMX controlled camera obscura lights. These lights spin two light bulbs inside of a structure full of drilled holes that project light onto all surrounding surfaces and create interference patterns as the two lights move across each other.

The boxes were designed by Daniel Rasa. These were displayed at the grand opening of Red Bull Music Academy’s Brooklyn Space during a performance of Sun Ra’s Arkestra, Pharaoh Sanders, and Kamasi Washington.
